Hi, I'm Eileen Perrier

I’m a London-based photographer and artist working across portraiture and documentary. My practice explores identity, heritage, and the human experience - often through sitters encountered in everyday life.

Since the late 1990s, my practice has spanned commissioned work, public projects and long-term personal series. I’ve photographed people based on geography, occupation or physical traits, using everything from large-format cameras to mobile phones — often setting up in public spaces with a portable studio. Alongside gallery exhibitions, I also collaborate with editorial, cultural and commercial clients who are looking for portraits with depth, honesty and strong visual clarity.

My background is Ghanaian and Dominican, and my first visit to Ghana in 1995 marked a turning point in how I understood my identity and role as a London-born artist. That journey still influences how I work, blending personal perspective with wider cultural narratives.

My work has been exhibited at venues including Tate Britain, The Photographers’ Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, Hayward Gallery and internationally at the Centre Pompidou (Paris), Mori Art Museum (Japan) ( as part of Africa Remix). I’ve held residencies with Light Work in collaboration with Autograph (New York), and Kunsthalle Schirn (Frankfurt), and created commissioned portraits for King’s College London and the Foundling Museum.

Alongside gallery work and public commissions, I also collaborate with editorial, cultural and commercial clients seeking portraits with depth, honesty and strong visual identity.

I'm always open to conversations around new projects, collaborations or commissions.

Selected clients & collaborators include:

Tate Britain, The Photographers’ Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, King’s College London, Autograph, Light Work, The Foundling Museum, Peckham Platform, Gasworks, The Face, Art & Auction Magazine.
